My recent visit to our beloved Sierra Leone has left me convinced that, our people have fully understood and accepted the ‘New Direction’ vision of the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), as the only viable way forward for our country.
What I witnessed there is indicative of a clear victory for SLPP at the polls in November, with our collaborative efforts devoid of complacency.
Moreover, Sierra Leoneans appreciate and respect the fact that Mr. Bio has a disciplined background and that he is one of the few African military leaders to have willing handed power over to a civilian government.
They believe Mr. Bio is capable of sanitising President Koroma’s rotten governance system, after his defeat in the coming elections.
More importantly, Sierra Leoneans view the opposition SLPP’s presidential candidate as a God given gift to the country, and without a doubt – Julius Maada Bio is an educated, gentle, charismatic and focused leader.
He is vibrant, attracts a multitude of people from all social backgrounds, regardless of their regional or tribal origin. This is a clear distinctive disposition of his leadership.
I was recently at a meeting in Freetown – at the party’s national headquarters, where I first heard our charismatic presidential candidate – Bio, addressed party members. He was polite, assertive without being aggressive; precise and not wavering; fluent and not halting.
He was calm, as he delivered a speech outlining his genuine intention, practical ideas, plans and programmes for a better Sierra Leone. Little wonder president Koroma’s APC are having sleepless nights as the election approaches.
Mr. Julius Maada Bio – retired brigadier, is determined to democratically lead us into the ‘New Direction’ by empowering all Sierra Leoneans – not just a selected few from one region.
And I wholeheartedly believe that with our concerted efforts, we can certainly have a free, fair and violence free election, as we look forward to building a better Sierra Leone under his leadership.
